About Us

Finchfield is a suburb of Wolverhampton. It is located on the south-west edge of the city.  The school itself lies in the Merry Hill ward but is also adjacent to Tettenhall Wightwick and Park wards.

Uplands Junior School was opened in June 1970 as a three form entry Junior school. Since that time it has been a popular choice for parents and children. The majority of children transfer from the neighbouring Westacre Infants School, located on Finchfield Hill.

As Uplands has a larger admission number, (96 children per year group), than Westacre it also receives children from schools that are further afield. The school was designed to be open-plan but over time additional building work and extensions have meant that each year group is arranged as three ‘traditional’ classrooms with its own self-contained cloakroom and toilet facilities.

There is a separate school hall, dining room, Music room for small group teaching, small sensory room, Intervention teaching space (Study Station), PPA/meeting room and school library. The school is fortunate to have a large playground and field, bordered by mature trees and a school garden which makes an attractive outdoor environment for the children.
