An exciting Google classroom update!
At the start of this lockdown we asked the E-services team to activate the "Google meet" feature for all of our virtual classrooms. This allows for children in classes to meet up in the virtual world and chat with each other for socialisation purposes. Mrs Beasley received training and trialled the "meet" with her class last week-I even got an invite! She has now trained all of the staff which means we are now in a position to offer a weekly meet up for each class as detailed below. Mrs Webster-Smith
From Mrs Beasley:
"As children's wellbeing is very important to us at Uplands and the fact most children are not able to see their class peers, we are introducing weekly Google Meet sessions for your child's class. These sessions will last no more than 30 minutes and it is a chance for your child's teacher to catch up with their class and to allow the children to see and talk to one another virtually face to face. Each weekly session will have a focus such as 'tell a joke' or a 'scavenger hunt'. These sessions will not be related to online learning-just a chance to have a catch up and hopefully put a smile on each others faces. These sessions will be recorded for safeguarding purposes. Your child does not have to participate in these sessions if you do not wish them to as it is not mandatory. Your class teacher will be informing your child via google classrooms when their class session will be held (day and time) as each class will be different due to varying timetables within school. We have been trialling this in year 5 and it has proved to be very successful! A text will be sent out to all parents too regarding this information. Stay safe! Mrs Beasley
